The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has confirmed a strain of salmonella found in Veggie Booty snack foods was the cause of an outbreak that made 61 people ill.

Veggie Booty snack foods are marketed by Robert’s American Gourmet Inc. of New York.

A recall was issued on June 28, by Robert’s American Gourmet due to concerns of contamination. While the FDA advised consumers to discard any Veggie Booty and Super Veggie Tings Crunchy Corn Sticks.

People across nineteen states, all children three and younger, became ill after ingesting the contaminated snacks, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.

Six children were hospitalized and one lawsuit has been filed in connection with the outbreak so far.
